At a time when journalists and comedians face "cancellation" for opposing Trump administration's repressive policies, MAGA culture and rising ultra-nationalism, where are the artists? Cancel This Show! addresses this question by gathering works that critically examine xenophobia, urban militarization, and attacks on democratic institutions.
Drawing on historic activist exhibitions—from the 1967 Angry Arts Week to the 1984 Artists Call Against US Intervention in Central America—this pop-up exhibition challenges contemporary artists to reclaim their role as social critics. Conceived as a campaign against U.S. government actions, it responds to the silence widely practiced by American art institutions fearful of losing funding for speaking out.
Through sharp commentary, humor, and parody, participating artists confront urgent injustices while fostering dialogue about art's role and responsibilities amid political crisis.
